About Car Data

Car Data is provided by 3 Companies in the UK. Although there are many brands of Car Data checks, they all can be traced back to these 3 companies.

These companies are Experian, Equifax, My Car Check

Experian and Equifax as credit reference agencies won't let My Car Check have access to the financial information and therefore anyone performing a car data check wont get data relating to "Oustanding Finance" on a vehicle.

Below we go through each of the car data providers and let you know who belongs to who and at what price they offer their services.

HPI

HPI is an arm of the company called Aviva, the same people who own the The RAC and Equifax.

Which is a bit strange how The RAC can do Car Data Checks for £5 and HPI (who perform the Checks for them) do them at £19.99. That's the exact same check, with data coming out of the exact same building and your money going in the exact same bank account. RAC and HPI are exactly the same apart from the letters at the top of the print out.

The RAC

The RAC Car Data check is provided by HPI (Owner by Equifax) and perform the check for £5 (at the time of this article).

This check is comprehensive and checks for the vehicle being: Stolen, Written off, Outstanding Finance, Previous Plates, Mileage Check, Valuation of vehicle (Where Possible, through Data not inspection)
