HPI

HPI is an arm of the company called Aviva, the same people who own the The RAC and Equifax.

Which is a bit strange how The RAC can do Car Data Checks for £5 and HPI (who perform the Checks for them) do them at £19.99. That's the exact same check, with data coming out of the exact same building and your money going in the exact same bank account. RAC and HPI are exactly the same apart from the letters at the top of the print out.

The truth is that HPI try to make more money out of their name. HPI which everyone knows as "Hire Purchase Index" started doing data type checks many many years ago. They now claim that HPI does not refer to Hire Purchase Index. By doing this, they are able to prevent any other company from selling HPI Checks. So whenever anyone types in "HPI" into a search engine, they automatically come top.

This means that they are able to charge top money for a product that is no better than any others.
